  • Local phone number
  • Sometimes the Pakistani CNIC or a reference letter from your Pakistani bank

Many universities issue a bank letter on request. Ask the international office in week one.

Avoid common fees

  • Foreign transaction fees on your Pakistani card, so use a local card as soon as you can
  • Currency conversion margins hidden in exchange rates
  • Overdraft charges: set alerts and avoid going into unarranged overdraft
  • Paper statement and international transfer charges
  • Compare the total cost, not only the advertised fee

Keep your account safe

  • Never share your PIN, card number or one-time codes with anyone, even someone who says they are the bank.
  • Do not lend your bank account to anyone to receive money. It can make you responsible for fraud.
  • Check statements weekly and set alerts on your phone.
  • Use a strong passcode and enable biometric login.
