Payment routes
- Offline IBFT. The British Council describes interbank fund transfer as its most economical route.
- Card payment. Card payments in rupees to an international merchant are settled in foreign currency, so the amount on your statement can differ from the listed price.
- Cash deposit or bank draft. Use the exact bank details in the official booking instructions.
- Keep proof. Save the transfer slip and your registration reference until your confirmation arrives.
After the test: results and sending scores
For computer tests, results usually appear in the Test Taker Portal in 1 to 2 days. You can download an electronic Test Report Form (e-TRF) for up to two years. A British Council booking includes five extra e-TRFs that you can send free to institutions. Add institutions in the portal and keep the portal e-TRF, not a screenshot, as your proof.

Booking scams and what to ask before you pay
- Do not pay anyone who promises a guaranteed band, a “leaked” paper or a “paid” score.
- Never share your portal password or let someone else take your test. Impersonation can lead to a ban.
- Ask for a written breakdown: exam fee, service fee, and what the service fee covers.
- Check that you receive an official booking confirmation by email from the exam provider, not just a screenshot.
- Book directly on the official page if you prefer. A service is only helpful if it saves you time or mistakes.
